Kowloon Mosque and Islamic Centre

The Kowloon Masjid was built in 1896 in an Indo-Islamic style, gradually eroding over almost a century until construction work took place in 1984. A major landmark in Tsim Sha Tsui, the Masjid is an important gathering space for the Muslim community in Hong Kong. The shape of the roof resembles a peach, while the worship hall is situated on the second floor. A giant crystal lamp sits at the centre of the roof, while sunlight streams through the geometric marble walls, creating a mesmerising light show. A smaller worship hall is situated on the third floor, while the open-air walkways are embellished with geometric marble shapes. Slender minaret towers stand in each of the four corners. While the minarets no longer serve a practical purpose, they are staples of the traditional architectural style of mosques. Would you like to enter this religious gathering space, and know more about its community?
