Cho Yiu Chuen

Cho Yiu Chuen is largely built along the hillside, with comphrensive facilities, including the first swimming pool in a public housing estate in Hong Kong. With its beautiful aesthetic design, the housing estate won various architectural design awards. In 1978, the “Chung Ning Sheh” was built as an exclusive residence designed for senior tenants, with 132 elderly flats built to support their physical and mental wellbeing. The 39-storey Kai King Lau completed in 1981 was the world’s tallest public housing building at that time. In 2014, the Housing Society installed a transfer lift tower and footbridge in 2014 to enhance accessibility for the residents. The project was a winner in the "Major A&A and Renovation Works" category of the Building Surveyor Awards 2015.

The ‘Housing Re-public’ Project was initiated by Rico Diedering and Pedram Ghelichi. They will be taking visitors through the estate, introducing the vision behind their refurbishment plans.
