DOUGUYA HATCHAREA

“Observing objects from the perspective of objects without the bias of the self is the foundation of antique stores. The process of integrating antiques into daily life, and delving into the origins of an antique to investigate its essence is known as ‘sapientia.’” is the core philosophy of DOUGUYA HATCHAREA. As an antique furniture-themed store, it sells woodcraft from Japan, pottery, antique furniture, and vintage botanical books. Founder Pete Man sees each item as part of the aesthetic pursuit and as an aspect of the enthusiasm for life, and not just as commodities for sale.

Antique sellers often use “time” as a bridge across distance and events. When we want to record the passing of time, timepieces symbolise bystanders from one era after another.

During Open House Hong Kong, DOUGUYA HATCHAREA will be open for visitors to inspect and appreciate each “art piece”, and explore across space and time.
